Why it matters
Applicants can identify their examination district before the entry document becomes available. Confusing the district slip with the admit card could leave a candidate without the document the commission requires for entry.
UPESSC exam city details for Uttar Pradesh’s Assistant Professor recruitment were released on 8 November 2026, Dainik Jagran reported. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) says this advance district information is separate from the admit card, which is due from 15 November.
The written examination under Advertisement 04/2026 is scheduled for 19 and 20 November. It concerns 1,936 advertised posts in government-aided degree colleges. Candidates can find their allotted examination district through the link on the commission’s homepage, but the district slip alone will not allow entry to the exam.
How to check UPESSC exam city information
The commission’s notice dated 6 November says advance district information would be made available from 8 November. Jagran’s report on 8 November quotes commission chairman Prashant Kumar saying candidates can use the homepage link and enter the requested details to see their allocation.
The official website is upessc.up.gov.in. The purpose of this first step is to identify the examination district. The notice does not turn that information into an entry document: its final paragraph expressly says it is not the admit card.
The next download is therefore a separate stage. The commission says valid admit cards can be downloaded from 15 November and that candidates without one will not be allowed to sit the examination. This distinction applies to applicants already enrolled in the Assistant Professor recruitment.
| Date | What is available or scheduled | Candidate’s step |
|---|---|---|
| From 8 November | Advance exam district information | Check the allotted district on the official site |
| From 15 November | Admit card download | Download the separate entry document |
| 19 and 20 November | Written examination | Follow the date, shift and centre on the admit card |

Six cities and two daily examination shifts
The notice names six divisional headquarters: Agra, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj and Varanasi. These are the cities hosting the examination, rather than a list of six individual examination centres.
Two shifts are scheduled each day. The morning session runs from 9.30 am to 11.30 am, and the afternoon session from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm, all in Indian Standard Time. Each sitting is two hours long.
That general timetable does not identify an individual applicant’s subject, shift or building. The recruitment advertisement says the admit card carries the examination date, location and time, with the candidate’s roll number. It also says candidates must attend the centre allotted to them and that a change of centre is not permitted.
Assistant Professor paper: 120 questions for 360 marks
The original recruitment advertisement sets out 120 multiple-choice questions: 30 on general knowledge and 90 on the relevant subject. Each correct answer earns three marks. A wrong answer, or multiple answers to a question, attracts a deduction of one mark.
The written examination carries 360 marks and the interview 40. Together they make 400. NewsPlainly’s calculation puts the written paper at 90% of those combined marks and the interview at 10%; this is a description of the published selection scheme, not a prediction of a qualifying score.
The vacancies were advertised on 8 September, with 1,564 posts in co-educational colleges and 372 in women’s colleges. The document says the number can change. Today’s development is the district-information stage of that existing recruitment, rather than an announcement of new vacancies.

Black pen rules and arrangements for a scribe
The advertisement requires a black ballpoint pen for the optical mark recognition (OMR) answer sheet, the sheet read by a scanner from shaded answer bubbles. Other pen colours, gel pens, pencils and correction fluid are prohibited. Candidates are instructed to shade the relevant bubbles fully and avoid extra marks.
For eligible candidates using a scribe, a person who writes answers for them, the advertisement says the candidate must arrange the scribe and register full details with the commission at least one week before the written exam. It provides 20 additional minutes per examination hour for candidates receiving this facility.
The rules and dates here belong to Assistant Professor Advertisement 04/2026. The commission also runs separate school-teacher recruitments, including the UP trained graduate teacher recruitment. Its dates should not be substituted for this Assistant Professor recruitment’s timetable.
