Terms of Use

These terms explain the rules for using the NewsPlainly website. By reading or using the site you agree to them. We keep them as short and plain as we can.

Last updated: 31 October 2026

Who we are

NewsPlainly is a news website based in India that explains the day’s news in plain language. For any question about these terms, write to grievance@newsplainly.com.

Using NewsPlainly

NewsPlainly is free to read. You do not need an account. You may use the site for your own personal, non-commercial reading. Please do not:

  • copy whole articles, or large parts of them, to republish elsewhere;
  • scrape or download the site automatically in a way that puts a load on our server, except for search engines and news services that follow our robots.txt;
  • try to break, overload or get around the security of the site;
  • use the site for anything unlawful.

Our content

We work to make every article accurate, fair and clearly sourced. Articles are drafted with AI help from public sources and checked by our editor before they are published; our editorial policy explains how. News changes quickly, so an article shows the facts as we knew them when it was published or last updated.

Our articles explain the news. They are not financial, investment, legal, medical or other professional advice. Please check with a qualified professional before making decisions based on something you read here.

If you spot a mistake, tell us. We correct errors openly, as set out in our corrections policy.

Sharing and quoting

The text, graphics and design of NewsPlainly belong to NewsPlainly unless stated otherwise. You are welcome to share links to our articles anywhere, and to quote a short part of an article as long as you name NewsPlainly and link to the article.

Many photos on the site come from other people and are used under their own licences (for example Creative Commons or government open licences). Each photo’s credit and licence is shown with it, and those licences, not these terms, decide how you may reuse that photo.

Other websites and services

Our articles link to other websites, and some features use outside services, such as Google Translate for the language selector, Open-Meteo for the weather and your browser’s notification service for story alerts. We are not responsible for the content or policies of those sites and services; their own terms apply. Our privacy policy explains what information they receive.

Availability

We try to keep NewsPlainly running at all times, but we cannot promise the site will always be available or free of errors. We may change, pause or remove any part of the site at any time.

Limits on our responsibility

We provide NewsPlainly as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for any loss that comes from using the site or relying on its content. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited under Indian law.

Complaints

For a complaint about our content, a correction request or any other concern, write to grievance@newsplainly.com. You can also reach us through our contact page. We will reply as soon as we can.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any dispute about them will be dealt with by the courts in India.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
