NewsPlainly explains the news plainly. Every story answers three questions: what happened, why it matters to you, and what comes next.
Why we started
Most news tells you what happened and stops there. Headlines about an interest rate, a court ruling or a new government scheme often leave readers asking the same thing: what does this mean for me? NewsPlainly exists to answer that question in clear, simple English.
What we cover
We cover the stories that affect daily life in India: government decisions and new rules, prices and taxes, the economy and markets, courts, technology, health, sport and major national events. We also cover world news when it has a real effect on India. Over time we plan to add more world coverage.
How we work
We pick a small number of important stories each day rather than publishing everything. For each one we read reporting from established news organisations and official sources such as ministries, regulators and courts, and then write our own explainer with the context readers need.
Our articles are drafted with the help of AI tools, working only from public sources. Every article is then reviewed by our editor for accuracy, fairness and clarity before it is published. Nothing goes live without that review. You can read the full details in our editorial policy.
Who is behind NewsPlainly
NewsPlainly is an independent publication based in India. Our editor, Sahadev Halder, reviews and approves every article and is responsible for what we publish.
