Why it matters
This final A fixture gives players time in New Zealand conditions before the senior Test series starts on 19 November. The score is an unfinished match position, with two scheduled days still to come.
India A day 2 ended with the visitors 428 runs ahead of New Zealand A at Lincoln on 8 November 2026. India A declared their first innings at 464 for five, then reduced the home side to 36 for two in 14 overs, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) match centre showed at stumps.
Dhruv Jurel, Tilak Varma and Washington Sundar made half-centuries before Prasidh Krishna took both New Zealand A wickets, according to the Press Trust of India (PTI) report carried by The Hindu. The four-day match is still in progress. The figures describe the position after its second day, rather than a completed result.
India A day 2 adds 237 runs for three wickets
India A resumed on 227 for two and batted on to 464 for five before captain Jurel ended the innings after 146 overs, PTI reported. A declaration means the batting side has chosen to finish its innings with wickets still available. Here, the declaration gave India’s bowlers time to begin New Zealand A’s reply before the close.
NewsPlainly’s calculation puts the second day’s batting contribution at 237 runs for the loss of three wickets. The runs are 464 minus the overnight 227; the wickets are five minus two. This is the team’s progress during the day, rather than a partnership between two individual batters.
| Stage | India A score | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Start of day 2 | 227/2 | Overnight score, reported by PTI |
| Declaration | 464/5 | First innings ended after 146 overs |
| Added on day 2 | 237 runs, three wickets lost | NewsPlainly calculation |
The overnight position and the declaration total also separate the work done on the two days. The 464 runs belong to the complete first innings, while 237 were added on 8 November.

Jurel, Tilak and Washington extend the innings
Jurel made 71 from 95 balls, with nine fours and two sixes, PTI reported. He had been on 12 when the opening day ended. His innings took him past fifty, but he was dismissed before India A completed their batting.
B Sai Sudharsan finished on 88 after adding 11 to his overnight score. That puts his starting score at 77, by subtraction. Ravindra Jadeja contributed 25, while Tilak stayed at the crease to finish unbeaten on 81.
Tilak and Washington put together an unbroken sixth-wicket partnership of 114, the PTI account said. Washington was 50 not out when the declaration came. The pair’s stand therefore remained unfinished when India A chose to move the match into the home side’s innings.

Prasidh removes both New Zealand A openers
Prasidh dismissed Rhys Mariu for nought and Curtis Heaphy for 19, finishing with two wickets for 12 runs, PTI reported. The BCCI match centre recorded New Zealand A at 36 for two in 14 overs with eight first-innings wickets remaining at stumps.
Dean Foxcroft was unbeaten on 10 and Zak Gibson on one, according to PTI. Jasprit Bumrah also bowled in the reply but had not taken a wicket in the figures reported. No completed chase or match victory had been recorded at that stage.
The 428-run gap follows directly from 464 minus 36. New Zealand A are batting in their first innings, so that number is a deficit against India’s total, rather than a target already set for a final-innings chase.
Two days remain in the final four-day fixture
New Zealand Cricket’s official schedule lists the Lincoln match for 7 to 10 November. That leaves 9 and 10 November as the remaining scheduled days after Sunday’s play. The venue is the Bert Sutcliffe Oval at Lincoln University.
The host board’s announcement set out three four-day A matches: the opening fixture at Lincoln from 24 to 27 October, the second at Hagley Oval, Christchurch from 31 October to 3 November, and this final match back at Lincoln. It also placed the senior Test series against India from 19 November.
The A programme gives players match practice ahead of that senior series, New Zealand Cricket explained. Its broadcast announcement says all three four-day matches are streamed on Sony LIV in India. NewsPlainly’s sports coverage follows the day’s confirmed match developments.
