Why it matters
The result changes the Group A standings before India's next match. Rajput's century gave India a total to defend, but Pakistan's recovery decided the result.
India U19 lost by three wickets to Pakistan at Al Amerat in Oman on 8 November 2026 after recovering from 61 for five in pursuit of 209. Hamza Zahoor finished unbeaten on 100, answering Arjun Rajput’s 107 for India, according to match reports from India Today and The Indian Express.
The Group A game in the Under-19 Asia Cup produced a century in each innings. Rajput helped India reach 208 after early wickets, but Zahoor and Hasnain Abbas Dar rebuilt Pakistan’s reply. India Today reported that Pakistan moved to the top of the group and India to second, with India next scheduled to face the United Arab Emirates on 10 November.
India U19 defeat turns on a 107-run recovery
India had removed five Pakistan batters with only 61 on the board. From that point, Pakistan still needed 148 to reach the target of 209, with five wickets available. Zahoor and Dar then added 107 for the sixth wicket, India Today reported.
Dar contributed 38 before Manal Chauhan dismissed him, with Rajput taking the catch. Mohammad Sayyam also fell, to Mohit Ulva, leaving Hamza Zahoor to complete the chase with the lower order. Hamza Zahoor reached his hundred without being dismissed.
The stand accounted for about 72% of the runs Pakistan needed when they were five wickets down. That is NewsPlainly’s calculation: 107 divided by the remaining 148, multiplied by 100. It describes the size of the recovery from that position, rather than either player’s individual share of the partnership.
| Stage | Recorded figure | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| India’s innings | 208 all out | Pakistan’s target was 209 |
| Pakistan’s difficult position | 61/5 | 148 more runs required |
| Sixth-wicket stand | 107 runs | About 72% of that remaining requirement |
| Result | Pakistan won by three wickets | Zahoor finished on 100 not out |

Arjun Rajput supplies more than half of India’s 208
India chose to bat first. The Press Trust of India (PTI) account carried by The New Indian Express put them at 42 for four before Rajput’s recovery. His 107 came from 85 deliveries and included 11 fours and five sixes.
Captain Lakshya Raichandani, Aryaveer Sehwag, VK Vineeth and Yashbardhan Chauhan were the first four Indian batters dismissed, according to PTI. Sehwag made 22. Rajput therefore had to build his innings with several top-order wickets already lost.
Rajput shared stands of 44 with wicketkeeper Anvay Dravid, who made 10, and 64 with Manal Chauhan, who contributed 11, PTI reported. Those partnerships allowed India to move beyond the early collapse. They also show how much of the rebuilding depended on one batter’s innings.
Arjun Rajput’s score was 51.4% of India’s eventual total, by NewsPlainly’s calculation of 107 divided by 208. The denominator includes extras as well as runs scored by batters. His boundary runs totalled 74: 11 fours supplied 44 and five sixes supplied another 30.
India were eventually dismissed in 46.3 overs, short of using their full 50-over allocation. Kavya Prasad Patel made 23 and Ishan Sood remained unbeaten on two, according to PTI. The team total, rather than Rajput’s individual hundred, set the requirement for Pakistan’s reply.

Three Pakistan bowlers take nine wickets between them
Ali Raza finished with three wickets for 37 runs, Rizwanullah with three for 24 and Niqab Shafiq with three for 42, PTI reported. Raza and Rizwanullah are right-arm medium pacers, while Shafiq bowls slow left-arm orthodox spin, the PTI account said. Their combined nine wickets left one for Mohammad Sayyam, whose figures were one for 27.
India’s bowlers then created a chance to defend the total. Manal finished with three wickets for 32 from his ten overs and Mohit took two for 45, India Today reported. Pakistan nevertheless completed the pursuit after the sixth-wicket partnership had reduced the work left for the final stages.
India face the UAE on 10 November
The next match for India is against the United Arab Emirates, or UAE, on 10 November, India Today reported. Sunday’s match was a Group A fixture in the 50-over youth tournament.
The result belongs to the Under-19 Asia Cup in Oman, a separate competition from India A’s tour of New Zealand. NewsPlainly’s sports section brings together the day’s match reports.
