Both outlets said the win also protects her from elimination next week. The same task produced the episode’s loudest moment: a clash between Kushal Tanwar, known in the house as Gullu, and rapper Yung DSA.
NewsPlainly did not watch the episode. Everything below comes from recaps of Bigg Boss 20 episode 54 published by Times Now, ABP Live English, Asianet Newsable and Filmibeat between the night of 29 October and the morning of 30 October, and each moment is credited to the outlet that reported it.
How the Bigg Boss 20 captain was chosen
The task was built around shapes laid out in the garden. ABP Live wrote that Bigg Boss announced a shape and contestants had to get inside it; Asianet Newsable said they had to find a place in the shapes each time the buzzer sounded. Anyone left without a spot was out of the race.
Mahhi Vij did not compete. In episode 53, a majority of housemates voted against her captaincy, which ended her chance to be a contender this week, Filmibeat reported. In episode 54 she ran the task instead: ABP Live described her as the sanchalak, the housemate who referees a task, and Asianet Newsable said she made the elimination decisions.
Round by round the field shrank. Filmibeat said Kanika Mann was the last person standing, which made her the Bigg Boss 20 captain for the coming week. Asianet Newsable, which described her as the actress from Naagin 7, also named her the winner and said the captaincy makes her safe from eviction next week.
Gullu and Yung DSA fight: what each outlet reported
Gullu and Yung DSA were both knocked out of the task after failing to get into the shapes in time, ABP Live reported, and the argument between them started from there. The reports agree that it was heated. They differ on how far it went.
- Times Now wrote that the clash almost turned physical after an exchange of words.
- ABP Live said the two were seen pushing each other. It also said a promo reportedly shows ScoutOP pulling Gullu off the board before Yung made a remark about him.
- Asianet Newsable said the argument turned into a physical fight.
The words were personal on both sides. According to Times Now, Yung called Gullu “bailbuddhi”, a Hindi taunt suggesting someone is slow-witted, and Gullu answered by calling Yung a child and a mosquito. Yung then brought up an earlier clash involving wild card contestant Nakul Dhull, Times Now reported. ABP Live wrote that Nakul was out of the show within a day of entering, after a physical altercation with Gullu.
None of the recaps read for this article carried a separate statement from Gullu or Yung beyond what each said to the other during the fight.
Manish Goel’s asthma attack during the clash
Manish Goel, who entered the house as a wild card, stepped in to separate the two and suffered an asthma attack, ABP Live reported. Times Now also said Manish had an asthma attack amid the chaos.
ABP Live’s account is the most detailed. It said Aasif Khan, Uditi Singh and Mahhi went to help him in the garden, and Mahhi asked Bigg Boss to send him to the medical room. The argument reportedly went on even as he struggled, ABP Live wrote, and Manish later asked Yung to calm down. Yung then helped him walk to the medical room, according to the same report. None of the recaps read gave an update on Manish’s health after that.
Other fights in Bigg Boss 20 episode 54
The captaincy task was not the only flashpoint. ScoutOP and Arishfa Khan had an argument, both Times Now and Asianet Newsable reported, and Times Now said Arishfa lost her temper during it. Times Now also wrote that Yung was angry with ScoutOP and Aamrapali Dubey for not standing up for him, which led to a fresh exchange between Yung and ScoutOP.
Earlier in the episode, ScoutOP and Love Gill talked through the row over their friendship and Kaashvi Hiranandani’s appearance on Weekend Ka Vaar, Times Now reported. ScoutOP defended Kaashvi and said he hoped things would be sorted out. Love told him she needed time before she could move on, according to the same recap. Times Now also mentioned an argument between Mahhi and Love, without giving details.
Bigg Boss 20 nominations and the eviction talk
Six housemates face the vote this week, according to Filmibeat and Zoom TV, which used the same list on 29 October: Gullu, Kanika Mann, ScoutOP, Love Gill, Aamrapali Dubey and Aasif Khan. That list is not the same as the one in recaps of the nomination episode on 27 October, which NewsPlainly set out here; the 29 October reports did not explain the difference. Kanika’s new immunity applies to next week, not to this vote, according to Filmibeat and Asianet Newsable.
On 29 October, hours before the episode aired, several sites ran headlines asking whether Gullu had been evicted over the fight with Yung DSA. Filmibeat and Zoom TV both said at the time there had been no official confirmation of any action against him. The four recaps of Bigg Boss 20 episode 54 read for this article did not report any decision by Bigg Boss on the fight. Filmibeat said audience votes will decide who stays this week.
