Why it matters
This is the first approved timetable for an overnight Vande Bharat sleeper linking Bengaluru and Mumbai, cutting a 22 to 24 hour trip to about 16 hours. The confirmed timings and stops let passengers in Bengaluru, Mumbai and towns such as Kalaburagi, Raichur, Solapur and Pune plan around the train before bookings open.
The 27652 Vande Bharat sleeper from Bengaluru to Mumbai now has an approved timetable. The Railway Board cleared the overnight Vande Bharat sleeper in a letter dated 29 October 2026, The Indian Express reported, and the schedule it published has the train leaving Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru at 7.45 pm and reaching Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai at 11.55 am the next day. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is set to flag it off from Bengaluru on Sunday, 1 November, Deccan Herald and The Times of India reported.
That settles several questions our earlier report of 21 October had to leave open: which Bengaluru station the Vande Bharat sleeper starts from, the exact timings, and where it stops. One thing has shifted. Regular trips for the public are now expected from 3 November, not 2 November, according to Deccan Herald. Fares and the date bookings open were not given in any of the three reports read for this article.
What the Railway Board approved for the 27652 Vande Bharat
According to The Indian Express, the Board’s letter went to the general managers of four zones: South Western Railway, South Coast Railway, South Central Railway and Central Railway. It said the Ministry of Railways had approved the minutes of the meetings for introducing trains 27651 and 27652 between CSMT and SMVT Bengaluru.
Train 27652 runs from Bengaluru to Mumbai and 27651 runs the other way. South Western Railway will operate and maintain the service, and two sleeper trainsets are assigned to the route, the newspaper said. Each Vande Bharat sleeper train has 16 air-conditioned (AC) coaches: 11 in third AC, 4 in second AC and 1 in first AC, for 823 berths in all (611, 188 and 24).
The Vande Bharat sleeper will run six days a week in each direction. It will not leave Bengaluru on Mondays, and it will not leave Mumbai on Tuesdays.

Vande Bharat sleeper timetable, station by station
The table below sets out the timings The Indian Express published from the Railway Board schedule. At the stops on the way, the first time is arrival and the second is departure. All times are in IST.

| Guntakal | 11.20 pm to 11.25 pm | 7.30 am to 7.35 am |
| Raichur | 1.03 am to 1.05 am | 6.03 am to 6.05 am |
| Yadgir | 1.43 am to 1.45 am | 5.08 am to 5.10 am |
| Kalaburagi | 3.08 am to 3.10 am | 4.13 am to 4.15 am |
| Solapur | 4.20 am to 4.25 am | 3.00 am to 3.05 am |
| Pune | 8.00 am to 8.05 am | 11.40 pm to 11.45 pm |
| Kalyan | 10.42 am to 10.44 am | 8.48 pm to 8.50 pm |
| CSMT Mumbai | Arrives 11.55 am | Leaves 8.10 pm |
Northbound, the 27652 train takes 16 hours 10 minutes, or 970 minutes. The return is 20 minutes quicker at 15 hours 50 minutes. The Times of India put the route at 1,118 km. On those figures, the train averages about 69 km an hour towards Mumbai and about 71 km an hour back to Bengaluru, stops included (NewsPlainly’s calculation: distance divided by scheduled journey time). Existing trains on the corridor take about 22 to 24 hours, Indian Express and Deccan Herald reported.
A few stops come at awkward hours. Passengers boarding at Kalaburagi for Mumbai would catch the train shortly after 3 am, and Solapur passengers just after 4 am. Going south, Pune passengers board close to midnight.

What changed since the first reports
When NewsPlainly first wrote about the Bengaluru Mumbai Vande Bharat service on 21 October, two different timetables were circulating and the Board had not yet issued its order. Here is how the picture has moved.
| Detail | Reported by 21 October | Reported on 29 October |
|---|---|---|
| Bengaluru station | KSR Bengaluru (the city’s main station) or SMVT, versions differed | SMVT Bengaluru (Indian Express, Times of India) |
| Leaves Bengaluru | 10 pm or 7.50 pm | 7.45 pm |
| Leaves Mumbai | 10.30 pm or 8.10 pm | 8.10 pm |
| Halts | 7 in Deccan Herald’s list, Yadgir not listed | 8, Yadgir added |
| Public service | 2 November expected | 3 November, per a Deccan Herald source |
| Fare and booking | Not announced | Not given in the reports read |
The Yadgir stop was not in the early plans and was approved after repeated demands from rail passenger groups, The Times of India reported. It also said no halt on the route would last more than five minutes, which matches the timetable above.
Not everyone is pleased with the starting point. Deccan Herald reported that rail users had wanted the Vande Bharat sleeper to use KSR Bengaluru, and argue that SMVT in Byappanahalli is poorly connected for a premium service.

Flag-off on 1 November, public trips from 3 November
All three newspapers say the flag-off is planned in Bengaluru on 1 November, the day Karnataka celebrates Rajyotsava. The reports differ on the hour. Deccan Herald, citing a source, said Ashwini Vaishnaw would flag off the train at SMVT at 10.30 am. The Times of India, citing South Western Railway sources, said the ceremony was set for 12 pm, with Union ministers H.D. Kumaraswamy and Pralhad Joshi also expected. The Times of India added that, as of Thursday evening, the railways had not officially announced the flag-off.
On regular service, the accounts also differ slightly. Deccan Herald’s source said commercial trips would begin on 3 November. The Times of India said they could start by Monday, 2 November, but that the decision was still awaiting approval.
The approved off days help explain the gap. Under the timetable, 2 November is a Monday, the one day the train does not leave Bengaluru. Tuesday, 3 November, is the next day the Bengaluru service is scheduled to run (NewsPlainly’s reading of the published days; the railways had not announced the first commercial trip in the material read).
27652 train booking date and fare: what is known
The search behind many readers’ visits is simple: when can tickets for the 27652 train be booked? None of the three reports read on 29 and 30 October gave a booking date or official fares. Deccan Herald said a third AC berth was expected to cost about ₹3,000 including meals, but that is an expectation, not a notified fare. Once the Vande Bharat sleeper appears in the reservation system, the numbers to search for are 27652 from Bengaluru and 27651 from Mumbai.
For the flag-off run itself, The Times of India reported that South Western Railway plans to hand out about 350 complimentary souvenir passes to rail enthusiasts and social media users for the first Vande Bharat sleeper trip from Bengaluru to Mumbai.
