Why it matters
The details checked now are the board's record of each 2027 candidate, from name spelling to subject, medium and photograph. Reports in Dainik Jagran and the Times of India say no further chance will be given after these dates. A date of birth change takes the longest because it needs school records, an affidavit and countersigned certificates.
UP Board correction work for the 2027 exams has begun. The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP), the board that runs the state’s High School (Class 10) and Intermediate (Class 12) exams, has opened its website so schools can fix errors in the records of 2027 candidates. The online window runs from 2 November 2026 until midnight on 12 November 2026, according to a letter signed by board secretary Bhagwati Singh on 2 November.
Students do not make these changes themselves: under the letter, school principals log in and update the records. A few bigger changes, such as a new date of birth or a change to a full name, cannot be made online at all and need a paper application through the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS), the district officer in charge of secondary schools, by 16 November.
What the UP Board correction window lets schools fix online
The letter is addressed to the DIOS of every district in Uttar Pradesh. It covers all students due to sit the 2027 High School and Intermediate exams, both regular students who appear through a school and private candidates. It tells every secondary school principal to check the details of these students already uploaded on the board’s website against the school’s own records.
The notice lists seven kinds of error that can be corrected online:
- a spelling mistake in the name of the student, the mother or the father
- the subject or stream (varg) chosen
- gender
- caste
- the medium of the exam, Hindi or English
- the photograph
- a wrong High School roll number entered at the time of Class 11 registration
Where a change is needed, the principal logs in to the portal on upmsp.edu.in and updates the record before the window shuts, the letter says. Dainik Jagran’s Bareilly office quoted the board’s regional secretary there, Rekha Diwakar, giving the same list, and the Times of India reported the same dates.

Date of birth correction and full name changes go offline
Some changes need proof on paper. Three kinds of request are kept out of the online window: a correction to the student’s date of birth, a change to the full name of the student, mother or father (as opposed to fixing a spelling), and deleting or restoring a student’s record under the rules.
For these, the board has told each DIOS to collect applications from school principals by 16 November 2026. The letter lists the papers that must go with each one:
- the student’s admission application form
- a certified copy of the school’s SR register (scholar register, the admission record)
- a certified copy of the attendance register
- the candidate’s identity card
- a copy of the Class 9 or Class 11 registration card
- an affidavit about the correct entries
- transfer certificates (TC) countersigned by the DIOS and by the district basic education officer
- the application, countersigned by the school principal
The DIOS then checks the papers and sends a report with a recommendation to the board’s regional office by 21 November. The board’s additional secretaries at its five regional offices, in Meerut, Bareilly, Prayagraj, Varanasi and Gorakhpur, are to examine these cases and, where they are found valid, send the corrected computer forms and finish the work by 30 November. They must also keep the evidence on file, the letter says.

Who must do what by when for UP Board exam 2027
The notice spreads the work across four levels, from the student to the regional office. NewsPlainly has set out each step in one place, using only the dates in the board’s letter.
| Who | What to do | By when |
|---|---|---|
| Students and parents | Check the details the school has on record and tell the principal about any error | Before the school’s online deadline of 12 November (the letter sets no separate student date) |
| School principals | Check uploaded details against school records; fix the seven listed errors on the portal | 2 to 12 November, until midnight |
| School principals | Send date of birth, full name and delete or restore requests, with documents, to the DIOS | 16 November |
| DIOS office | Check the papers and send a report with a recommendation to the regional office | 21 November |
| Regional offices (5) | Examine cases, send corrected computer forms, finish the work | 30 November |
Key dates in the UPMSP notice
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| 2 November 2026 | Letter issued; online correction window opens |
| 12 November 2026, midnight | Online window on upmsp.edu.in closes |
| 16 November 2026 | Last date for offline requests to reach the DIOS |
| 21 November 2026 | DIOS reports due at regional offices |
| 30 November 2026 | Regional offices to finish offline cases |

What happens after the UP Board correction deadline
The two reports read by NewsPlainly describe this as the final round. Dainik Jagran called it the final opportunity and said no corrections would be allowed after the set time. The Times of India reported that the board had made clear there would be no further chance after the deadlines. The letter itself sets the dates and marks the matter as urgent, but it does not spell out what happens to a request that comes in late.
The letter does not mention a fee for any of these changes. It also does not ask students to apply on the website: every online change goes through the principal’s login, and every offline request goes from the principal to the DIOS. The Times of India advised students to ask their schools whether their details have been entered correctly.
For a family that spots a mistake in a name’s spelling or a photograph, the school can fix it on the portal until 12 November. A date of birth correction is a slower process. It needs the school’s records, an affidavit and countersigned transfer certificates, and the school has to get the file to the DIOS by 16 November.
