Why it matters
With a reported ₹4,000 crore budget for its two parts, Ramayana's opening is the first test of whether audiences will match that scale. The Diwali weekend numbers will show whether it can close the gap to the ₹100 crore-a-day mark.
Ramayana box office collection on day 1 came to ₹64.85 crore net in India, according to estimates by the industry tracker Sacnilk reported on Friday, 6 November 2026. Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 (billed as Ramayana: Rise of a Legend), starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, who plays Ravana, opened in five languages on Thursday, 5 November.
It is a big opening, but below the ₹100 crore-plus first day that trade observers had expected after advance bookings of ₹50.5 crore, Mint and the Times of India reported.
Ramayana day 1 collection by language
The film ran in about 25,200 shows across India, with a gross collection of ₹77.50 crore, Sacnilk’s figures show, as reported by Mint. Net figures leave out taxes. The Hindi version brought in most of the money.
| Version | Day 1 net | Share of total |
|---|---|---|
| Hindi | ₹47.50 crore | 73.2% |
| Kannada | ₹7.25 crore | 11.2% |
| Telugu | ₹6 crore | 9.3% |
| Tamil | ₹2.60 crore | 4.0% |
| Malayalam | ₹1.50 crore | 2.3% |
| Total | ₹64.85 crore | 100% |
The Kannada figure stands out. Cinema Express noted that the film’s pull in the Kannada market helped lift its all-India total.

Ramayana collection day 1: where audiences turned up
For the Hindi 3D version of Ranbir Kapoor’s film, Sacnilk recorded an overall occupancy of 29.05% on day 1, rising to 38.08% for evening shows, against 26.31% in the afternoon and 22.77% in the morning, Mint reported.
Delhi NCR had the most Hindi screenings, 1,146, followed by Mumbai with 960 and Pune with 452. Smaller show counts filled better: Bengaluru’s 316 shows were 43% full on average, Kolkata’s 299 shows 38% and Hyderabad’s 206 shows 37.3%, according to Mint.

How the Ramayana box office opening compares
Mint compared the film’s first day with other big Hindi releases, using reported day-1 net figures:
| Film | Day 1 net (as reported) |
|---|---|
| Dhurandhar 2 | ₹102 crore |
| Adipurush (2023) | ₹86.75 crore |
| Jawan | ₹75 crore |
| Ramayana: Part 1 | ₹64.85 crore |
| Animal | ₹63 crore |
| Drishyam 2 | ₹62 crore |
| Pathaan | ₹57 crore |
| Dhurandhar | ₹28 crore |
By that list, Ramayana is about ₹21.9 crore behind Adipurush, the 2023 film based on the same epic. The comparison with Animal, Ranbir Kapoor’s previous release, depends on how it is measured. Ramayana’s all-language total is ahead of Animal’s ₹63 crore, but its Hindi version, at ₹47.50 crore, is behind the ₹54.75 crore Animal made in Hindi on its first day, Cinema Express reported.
Overseas start and the Diwali weekend
Abroad, the North American opening was slower than projected. The film had made $940,000 from 1,009 locations by noon Pacific time, the Times of India reported; early expectations had been $4 million for the opening day including premieres, and trade projections later settled around $3.5 million. Cinema Express put the film’s overseas earnings at ₹50 crore and its worldwide first-day total above ₹100 crore; the reports read differ on how the overseas figure was measured.
Advance bookings for Friday, 6 November, stood at ₹29.46 crore gross, according to both Mint and the Times of India. Trade estimates quoted by the two papers put a possible first-weekend total above ₹375 crore net and lifetime worldwide earnings between ₹1,600 crore and ₹1,800 crore. These are early estimates that depend on word of mouth over the extended Diwali weekend.
The Times of India added that the film had been trending towards a $1.5 million first day in North America, after premiere advance bookings of $1.65 million. It also reported a trade projection of about ₹900 crore gross in India over the film’s run, and noted that some analysts expect far more, a ₹3,000 crore lifetime haul; these are forecasts by others, not results.
