CSIR NET report puts paid forms past 2 lakh before 9 Nov

CSIR NET has over 2,01,464 paid registrations, NTA says. Forms and payments close on 9 November at 11.50 pm, with the ₹500 late fee waived.

Why it matters

The shared cutoff makes payment status important for applicants who have already filled in the form. The later notice also removes an additional charge that appeared in the original schedule.

CSIR NET December 2026 has passed 2,01,464 completed registrations with fee payments, the National Testing Agency (NTA) said in an update on 8 November. The test is the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test. Applicants have until 11.50 pm IST on 9 November to submit their forms and complete the examination-fee transaction under the agency’s extended schedule.

The extension notice, issued on 5 November, also removed the ₹500 late fee for this period. Today’s development is the registration update and deadline reminder. The additional application time had already been announced earlier in the week.

What the CSIR NET deadline covers

The NTA’s 5 November notice gives the same cutoff for two separate activities. Both the online application form and the successful examination-fee transaction must be completed by 11.50 pm on 9 November.

That distinction matters for someone who has created a registration or filled in the application form but has yet to finish payment. Times Now Navbharat’s application report says the process requires the prescribed fee, followed by submission and downloading the confirmation page. It advises candidates to keep the payment receipt as well.

NTA’s 8 November post puts completed registrations with fees above 2,01,464. It gives a running lower-bound figure. It should therefore be read as the number reported by the agency at that stage, without treating it as the final count for the examination.

The agency’s extension notice urges applicants to finish ahead of the cutoff because last-minute technical difficulties can affect completion. It directs them to csirnet.nta.nic.in and nta.ac.in for official updates.

How the extension changes the original fee window

The original public notice, dated 7 October, set 5 November as the ordinary application and payment deadline. It then provided a late-submission window from 6 to 9 November carrying a ₹500 late fee. The later notice extends ordinary submission through that period without the extra charge.

Activity 7 October schedule 5 November extension
Ordinary form submission Until 5 November Until 9 November, 11.50 pm
Successful ordinary fee payment Until 5 November Until 9 November, 11.50 pm
Late charge during 6 to 9 November ₹500 Waived for the extended period

The waiver concerns the additional late charge. The extension still requires successful payment of the examination fee. It says the other terms and conditions of the information bulletin and public notice continue to apply.

The examination dates in NTA’s original notice

NTA’s revised calendar of 26 October lists the Joint CSIR-UGC NET examination for 19, 22 and 27 December 2026, marked as proposed dates. It gives a duration of 180 minutes, with sessions from 9 am to noon and 3 pm to 6 pm. Individual subject and candidate allocations must be checked against later official instructions.

Some reporting published on 8 November gives different December dates. The revised calendar assigns 14 to 18 and 21 December to UGC NET, a separate examination. The original application notice and the later revised calendar checked for this article both list 19, 22 and 27 December. The 5 November extension changes the application deadline and says the remaining conditions continue. Applicants should check the official portal for subsequent notices before planning travel.

The original schedule also places the application-correction window on 10 to 12 November, ending at 11.50 pm on the final day. It leaves examination-city information, admit-card downloads, answer-key publication and results for later announcements.
