Arishfa Khan is the new Bigg Boss 20 captain. In episode 62, dated 6 November 2026, Bigg Boss let the housemates decide by vote whether she should take the post straight away, and they backed her, according to recaps of the episode published that night by Times Now and TellyReviews. The offer came days after she gave up her own place in the family-message task so that Aamrapali Dubey could hear from home.
Her first day in charge was not quiet. Both recaps describe a row over kitchen cleaning involving Love Gill and Mahhi Vij, and Times Now reports that Mahhi was in tears later in the episode after Yung DSA criticised her cooking.
How Arishfa Khan became Bigg Boss 20 captain
The episode opened with Bigg Boss calling the housemates to the living area. TellyReviews reports that Bigg Boss pointed out that Arishfa was the only one who had not received a message from her family, and that he wanted to make her Diwali special: if most housemates supported her, she would become captain directly.
The vote was done with two doors. Those in favour went through Door 2 and pressed a green button; those against went through the X door and pressed a red one, TellyReviews says. Its recap names ScoutOP, Uditi Singh, Kanika Mann, Mahhi Vij, Qazi Touqeer, Gullu and Yung DSA among those who pressed green. Times Now’s account says the housemates praised her for her sacrifice and voted in her favour.
The two recaps frame the reason slightly differently. TellyReviews ties it to her being the one contestant left without a family message. Times Now says Bigg Boss wanted to make her captain after Mahhi Vij decided not to give her the message from her family.
The family-message task behind the vote
The captaincy follows the Diwali family task that ran through episodes 60 and 61. As the Times of India explained it, contestants were handed audio messages from the families of fellow housemates. Playing a message meant giving up a lifeline in the game; the alternative was to break the record and keep the advantage.
Arishfa chose to let Aamrapali Dubey hear her family’s message and gave up a lifeline to do it, the Times of India and Leisurebyte both reported. Leisurebyte’s recap of episode 61 says Arishfa had been hurt that her own mother’s cassette was broken, and that she spoke about the values her mother had taught her and said she was neither arrogant nor selfish, despite how housemates saw her.
Outside the house, Aamrapali’s sister Aanchal thanked Arishfa on Instagram Stories. The Times of India quoted her as saying she was “very grateful for Arishfa’s noble gesture” and sorry that Arishfa could not hear her own family’s message.

First duties, and a kitchen row with Love Gill
As captain, Arishfa handed out household duties. Both recaps say she gave Yung DSA the job of cleaning the bathrooms; TellyReviews adds that Yung asked for a different task because he had been doing the same work since he entered the house. Times Now says she asked Mahhi to make breakfast.
Not all of the episode was tense. TellyReviews describes the morning song, with Kanika, Aamrapali and Love Gill dancing, and a running joke in which Arishfa woke Gullu and told him to keep his spine straight or be called spineless. Gullu played along, asked for a wet towel for his back, and Love brought one in a box. That box is the one Arishfa later asked Love to clean, by TellyReviews’ account, which is how the joke turned into the morning’s argument.
The row that followed is told a little differently by each outlet. In Times Now’s version, Uditi complained to Arishfa about utensils Love Gill had washed, and Arishfa asked Love to clean them again. In the TellyReviews version, Mahhi asked Arishfa for a box needed in the kitchen, which had been used in a joke with a wet towel, and Arishfa told Love to clean it at once.
Both agree on what came next. Love Gill wanted to know who had raised it with Arishfa and turned on Mahhi, assuming she was behind it. Mahhi denied complaining, Times Now reports. TellyReviews says Mahhi later told Qazi she did not want to stoop to Love’s level and was tired of the constant clashes. Times Now also reports a second argument between Love and Arishfa when the captain asked for extra chores.
ScoutOP, Yung DSA and the rest of episode 62
Two other moments appear in both recaps. In the garden, Yung DSA imitated Love Gill’s way of walking and talking, and Aamrapali Dubey and Kanika Mann laughed at it. Love Gill and ScoutOP also had a long talk. Times Now says it turned into a heated argument in which ScoutOP objected to Love’s behaviour and Love asked him not to control her, before the two settled it.
Times Now alone reports a clash over breakfast: Yung did not like the upma Mahhi Vij had made and told her so. Mahhi replied that this was how she cooked, then cried in the bedroom, the outlet says. Its recap does not include a further response from Yung.
The family-message week had already been hard on Mahhi Vij: NewsPlainly reported on 4 November on the promo in which she said she could not continue after a family message. Arishfa’s captaincy now puts her in charge of the chores that set off the latest argument between Mahhi and Love Gill.
